20 Games Like Cyrus II Chess(TBA)
Chess was written in March, 1980 and converted to IBM PC in December, 1981. This is probably the very first chess game running in MS-DOS.
Taking it's age into account, it's no surprise that the game features only text-mode graphics. The chess board and the pieces are drawn using ASCII characters. For the same reason, it's also no surprise that the user input is based just on keyboard commands.
In Chess there is no multiplayer mode - you play only against the computer. As usual, in this kind of game, you can select the A.I.'s skill level. The game offers 24 difficulty levels.
Checkmate is the most powerful and versatile chess program on the market with state-of-the-art graphics, a highly intuitive user interface, and the widest range of features found on any micro-computer chess program, many of which have never before been implemented on a personal computer.
The Chessmaster is a game where the player has the chance to play against the CPU controlled Chessmaster at a standard game of chess.
To play the game the player must pick up the chess pieces with there hand cursor and place it in the desired location, within the rules a standard chess game. There are 16 different difficulty levels that includes 2 beginner levels, 13 standard levels (ranging from an average of 5 seconds to 4.5 minutes per shot depending on level), and a infinite level that will keep thinking of a shot until a perfect shot can be made or it is forced to move. There is also a teaching mode that shows the player all the possible moves with the selected piece. Two players can play each other with two controllers and there is also an option of letting the Chessmaster play itself.
You can now test your Chess skills against the Wii, with the latest Touch Generations title from Wii. Wii chess is considered one of the most powerful chess computers. Wii chess uses loop express, a conversion of the loop chess engine which ranked 3rd in the 2007 World computer chess championship in Amsterdam. To improve your Chess skills Wii chess allows you record, review and replay previous games. So you can hone your chess skills, ready to battle any opponent. Wii chess comes with 10 difficulty levels from beginner to expert, and when you have finished going up against the Wii you can challenge players across Europe online, using the Nintendo WiFi connections from the comfort of your own home.
