The gameplay is very similar to past games by Namco, like MotoGP (PS2) and MotoGP 2 (PS2). MotoGP 3 is based off the 2002 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season, but with the introduction of four stroke bikes, the gameplay has some slight differences. The new 990cc 4-stroke bikes are faster, but tend to be a bit of a handful while the 500cc 2-strokes are less faster but slightly better to handle.

Motorbike racer set in the Top Gear series. The Championship mode has you alternating between dirt and street racing as you compete for points. You earn new bikes and courses along the way like many other games, but interesting twist is going from one kind of racing to the other. The physics of each type of racing are very different, and you'll have to switch back and forth between dirt and racing tactics on the fly. The dirt bike racing is a lot more arcadey with all of the jumps and wide open tracks. You can earn turbo by pulling off tricks and there's really nothing to stop you from testing your stunt skills while racing except your own nerve and imagination. In this way, Hyperbike is like Hydro Thunder where you're expected to lean on that turbo button the whole time and it's up to your racing skills to ensure there's turbo available.

Superbike Challenge brings 1000cc motorbikes to life for a one or two player race. Unusually, the screen is split horizontally, with your action only ever using half of the screen. You can play a full season of races, or run at one of the 12 tracks as a stand-alone race (including Assen, Mugello, the old Hockenheim and Spa). A manual gearbox option and 3 skill levels ensure that you can't master the game immediately. Full information on your speed and revs, the race order and course layout are on screen at all times.

Superbike Challenge is an updated version of Grand Prix 500 cc, with a better menu and title screen and some different in-game graphics.

SPEEDKING -- the motorcycle racing game with thrilling high speed wheel-to-wheel action against 19 other determined riders. Work your way up to world class with the 3 skill levels on 10 world famous circuits. Put on your helmet and enjoy the exhilarating challenge of high performance bike racing at 250 mph!

There are 6 gears, with selection made by forward/back movement of the joystick or keys A and Z. Each gear corresponds to a particular speed range. Accelerate or brake by pressing or releasing the Fire button (or space bar). Acceleration and braking are affected by the gear to speed relationship. A neutral position must occur between gear changes if using a joystick.

Colliding with other riders will result in a spill from your machine, and a subsequent time penalty to regain control. Leaving the road causes loss of speed and eventually loss of control.

At the start of the race, two timers will start:

Lap timer: Transferred to left side of the screen at end of each lap (lower readout). Upper readout = best lap time.
Race timer: Timing of current race.

If a new record is set for lap time, race time or finishing position the information will be announced on the grandstand display board.

There are nineteen other riders to compete against at three skill levels selected by F8 (shift and F7). The number of laps can also be reduced to improve on the best race time as playing skill improves. A high speed preview of the selected track may be observed by pressing space bar. The race or practice mode may be aborted at any time by pressing the RESTORE key.

Hang-On is an arcade game designed by Yu Suzuki and released by Sega in 1985. In the game, the player controls a motorcycle against time and other computer-controlled bikes. It was one of the first arcade games to use 16-bit graphics and Sega's "Super Scaler" technology that allowed pseudo-3D sprite-scaling at high frame rates. It also introduced a motion-controlled arcade cabinet, where the player's body movement on a large motorbike-shaped cabinet corresponds with the player character's movements on screen, inspiring arcade games that followed and anticipating the modern motion control trend.
