Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including survival mode where the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, an adventure mode where players play custom maps created by other players and a spectator mode. The PC version of the game is renowned for its third-party mods, which add various new items, characters, and quests to the game.
The alpha version was publicly released for PC on May 17, 2009, and after gradual updates, the full version was released on November 18, 2011. A version for Android was released a month earlier on October 7, and an iOS version was released on November 17, 2011. The game was released on the Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade game on May 9, 2012; on the PlayStation 3 on December 17, 2013; on the PlayStation 4 on September 4, 2014; on the Xbox One the next day; on the PlayStation Vita on October 14, 2014; and is scheduled for release on the Wii U on December 17, 2015. On December 10, 2014, a Windows Phone version was released. All versions of Minecraft receive periodic updates, with the console editions being co-developed by 4J Studios.
Minecraft received five awards during the 2011 Game Developers Conference. Of the Game Developers Choice Awards, it won the Innovation Award, Best Downloadable Game Award, and Best Debut Game Award; from the Independent Games Festival, it won the Audience Award and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. In 2012, Minecraft was awarded a Golden Joystick Award in the category Best Downloadable Game. As of June 2015, over 70 million copies had been sold, including 20 million between the Xbox 360 and Xbox One and 20 million on PC, making it the best-selling PC game to date and the third best-selling video game of all time. On September 15, 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to buy Mojang and the ownership of the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion; the acquisition was completed on November 6, 2014.

Designed for the Entertainment Computer System, this was the last game finished at Mattel Electronics - David Stifel completed it on the day before the final layoff.
Although it was never released, David was sure the game had potential. At his next job, designing computer software, he was constantly called on to put together demos of the software he was working on. He realized the principles he used in Game Factory could be applied to a software prototyping tool. He proposed this to his new company, but they didn't see the potential in it. Later, he saw that another company was releasing such a tool. "There, that's exactly what I had in mind," he told his boss. But his company still wasn't interested in pursuing it.
The rival program he saw was Director, which went on to become the main authoring tool of multimedia projects.
Mr. Basic Meets Bits 'n Bytes is a Basic programming game where three games are selected and then easily modified from within the game. The games themselves are all pedestrian and not worth playing in and of themselves all that much. All of the games are intended to be simple playgrounds for the aspiring Intellivision Basic developer to hone skills and become acquainted with the language. The game includes a spiral-bound manual (the Mattel version, at least) that contains tutorials on each game, with code samples and descriptions of how the game can be modified by the 'player'. Here is a brief rundown of each of the three games.
The Cannon is a rehash of an age-old game - you set the force and angle of a cannon and lob your payload at the enemy. The enemy attempts to do essentially the same thing as you. You can modify various parameters to change the physics of the game world, for example.
In Mr. Basic, your on-screen avatar seems to be compelled to keep a computer server room neat and tidy. You fetch printouts and do other 'menial' tasks. The control is a bit hard, and the game is kind of strange. I seem to remember you fetch flying papers and 'bits' or some such and feed them into the computer in some fashion. Odd, but not really compelling. Again, you can modify the game's variables and such via the Inty Basic language.
The third game is Vampire Bats, in which you defend your building from bats that are eating away the facade. You do this by dropping grenades on them. Hmm. As far as a game goes, it's lame. It may offer you a great way to familiarize yourself w/ Intellivision Basic, but not much else.
Interestingly, it seems that you can plug the cartridge into any old Intellivision without the ECS hooked up and at least play the games. When doing this, you lose the ability to use BASIC - and therefore can't modify the game behavior from the built-in settings.
Occasionally strange but completely addictive, Nintendo's Animal Crossing for the GameCube is not so much a game as a simulation of life on a small town. Players begin the game by setting out to live life on their own in a colorful town, where they are greeted by a seemingly endless supply of things to do and characters to meet.
Time passes in Animal Crossing in real-time, as the month, day, season, and time of day matches that of the player's. Holiday seasons come and go in Animal Crossing, just as they would in the real world. Experience the freedom to fish, decorate your house, go bug catching, garden, write letters, and even play original Nintendo NES games in this imaginative, and addictive game.
