This is a list of games completed by IntoxNitram in the year 2016. As part of the thread on Gaming Latest.
I completed Game of Thrones at the start of 2016, and was my first game played in the year. As I completed, I collected the platinum trophy also for this game. I found this to be a pretty interesting take on the GoT universe, however not one of the best Telltale games out there.
2.Tales from the Borderlands (2014)
The second game of 2016, another Telltale game. This was far better than the first, was a funny and interesting adventure - and something I really enjoyed despite not knowing the Borderlands universe. 2nd platinum of the year.
3.Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (2007)
Never played any Uncharted game when they were on PS3, as I owned an Xbox 360, so I got the Nathan Drake Collection and played this. Was a good game, could see the start of a fantastic series coming. The game hadn't aged well, despite its remastering as the game felt clunky. The story and personable characters were the best part of the game.
4.Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)
A far better experience than the first game - easy to see why it was peoples favorite from the series (maybe 4 will change this) and it built massively upon the good elements of the first - backed up with far better gameplay.
5.The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015)
Game 5 of the year, and probably one of the first that I started. This took me a couple of months to get through and I put around 40 hours into it - whilst doing minimal side quests. The game is fantastic value for money, had an amazing story and characters, a beautiful world and fun gameplay.
6.Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (2011)
People didn't seem to like this one as much as the first two, I would say although I didn't like it as much as 2 - I would probably say I found it slightly better than the first. A decent game all around, with the same fantastic characters.
7.Far Cry 4 (2014)
Far Cry 3 was probably one of my favorite games from last generation - so I was excited to play this. However, the story was no where near as good as the third one - which felt much more realistic. The gameplay was still fun, I always liked to be as stealthy as possible and ending in massive explosions if I failed. Pagan Min was a good character, a great performance by Troy Baker, but all round an forgettable story.
8.Life is Strange (2015)
Hear amazing things about it when it came out last year so I picked it up on the cheap in one of the sales. I found it to be a very good, interesting, story-driven game which I would recommend to everyone who likes that sort of game (think Telltale). The episodes were engaging and the platinum trophy was relatively easy so I decided to go back and grab all of the trophies also. Good game.
I started Transistor late last year (November 2015), but stopped playing because it wasn't really hitting the right spots for me. In June I finally decided to get it over and done with, and after around 40 minutes of playing it, I had finished a run through of the game from where I left it back in November. I must admit, I enjoyed it much more once going back to it, the combat mechanics made more sense to me and I knew how to work things - something which I struggled with the first time around. Not a fantastic game, but a decent one nonetheless.
10.Gone Home (2013)
Got it free with PS+ so thought I would quickly play through it. Went through it once on my own and then played a couple of times to get most of the trophies. I left a couple because I couldn't be bothered with them, despite the fact I could probably have earned them all within around 30 minutes. Not really a game in my opinion, wouldn't bother paying for it - just watch a lets play.
11.The Walking Dead: Michonne (2016)
As a fan of the Telltale games I picked this miniseries up in a sale. Was a decent game with an okay storyline. Nothing special at all, but as a fan of The Walking Dead it opens up some interesting story perspectives.
12.Battlefield Hardline (2015)
Hardline was a game I picked up cheap in the sale, as a bundle with Battlefield 4 on PS4. I decided to play through the campaign 'episodes' and managed to get it done within a day. It was overall enjoyable but a forgettable experience.
13.Resident Evil 6 (2012)
I picked up RE6 when it was ported to PS4 early in the year, finally got around to playing it in July and completed it pretty quickly. It was a good action game, but as a fan of Resident Evil - a poor Resident Evil game. The 4 campaigns were interesting, but I found the campaign with Chris in to be the worst. I enjoyed playing as Ada and seeing what she had to offer, but overall the four campaigns ended up dragging on a bit.
14.Battlefield 4 (2013)
Picked this up alongside Hardline in the sale for PS4. Played through it really quickly whilst seeing all three endings to the game - they were very similar. Obviously the story for these sorts of games aren't great and that was still true here, but overall the story was enjoyable.
15.Dead Island (2011)
The first act of the game was very enjoyable, but the second act was a real hard difficulty increase. I think I struggled because I played it solo: co-op is the way to go. Overall it was a fun enough game and I am looking forward to playing Riptide soon as the game picked up towards the end and overall was a decent and fun experience.
16.Minecraft: Story Mode (2015)
Picked it up as a spur of the moment kind of thing, as I usually wait for a big price drop. Completed it relatively quickly and achieved another platinum trophy. The 3 extra episodes were probably better than the actual episodes in the first season in my opinion.
17.Titanfall 2 (2016)
Picked this up during the Black Friday sale mainly because I heard good things about it and mainly because I felt bad that it was selling poorly if it was good. Mainly purchased for the online, I will have a few drop in matches during the next year until another shooter gains my attention. The campaign is actually very decent. Although it has a somewhat generic plot, the voice acting, combat and general feel of the game was very good. I especially liked the mission where you were warping towards two different times. A decent campaign overall - nothing beats killing things as a titan.
18.Borderlands 2 (2012)
My mate convinced me to purchase The Handsome Collection for PS4. I wasn't sold on these games at all but gave in because we both wanted a game to co-op. I had an excellent time playing this and we ended up doing loads of the story and side quests pretty quickly. I've sunk in well over 40 hours playing the game through once with most of the DLC. We will revisit occasionally to do the DLC fully but this is complete enough for me now. Loot is addicting, gameplay is fun. Highly recommended.
19.Resident Evil 4 HD (2011)
One of my favorites of all time. I purchased the game when it came out on PS4 and slowly worked through the story due to limited online gaming time as of recent. I completed the main story some while ago but have since gone back and completed the two Ada DLC modes. They are no where near as good as the main story, Separate Ways was decent but Assignment Ada was pretty rubbish and uneventful.
20.Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (2016)
Ever since watching the revel for the new Uncharted game with Nadine and Chloe, I wanted to get this game played so I could find out more about Nadine and prepare myself for the next entry. I very much enjoyed my time, the main characters were given perfect screen time in order to give a good send off to the cast. There were predictable story developments but the game itself was fun and felt like great fan service.
